Thermal Therapies

Thermal therapies use controlled heating to improve meibum fluidity and facilitate meibomian gland function. Depending on the technology, thermal energy may be delivered alone or combined with pressure, pulsation or subsequent meibomian gland expression.

Core interventional modalities

Thermal therapies

Controlled heating of the meibomian glands to improve meibum flow and reduce obstruction.

Thermal therapies raise eyelid temperature in order to soften abnormal or inspissated meibum.

Depending on the system, heating may be combined with pressure, pulsation, or subsequent gland expression.
